Inflammation in People Living with Sickle Cell Disease

What is the purpose of this trial?

You are invited to participate in a research study of inflammation in people living with sickle cell disease. Participants will be people or their family members with sickle cell disease and people with sickle cell trait, which is a related condition but not a disease.

Sickle cell crisis involves inflammation. You might know inflammation as tenderness, pain, swelling, and redness of a part of the body. But not all inflammation is visible, and people living with sickle cell disease probably always have some inflammation going on somewhere in the body. We can learn about inflammation through studying the blood. We are interested learning about how inflammation affects the well-being of people living with sickle cell disease, and how medications might improve their well-being through reducing inflammation.
